Assam Polytechnic Admission — Complete Guide
Merit-based admission through HSLC (Class 10) marks. No separate entrance exam required.

2. Eligibility Criteria
To apply for Assam Polytechnic Admission 2026-27, candidates must meet all of the following conditions:

⚠ Students who cleared HSLC in compartmental or multiple attempts are NOT eligible to apply.

4. Step-by-Step Application Process
Follow these steps carefully in order. Do not skip any step or submit incomplete information.
Visit the Official Portal
- Open your browser and go to the official DTE Assam portal: dte.assam.gov.in or the DTE Samarth Portal linked from the homepage.
- Use only the official government website. Avoid third-party or unofficial sites to protect your personal data.
- Bookmark the official page to avoid accidentally visiting fake/phishing websites.
- Keep a stable internet connection throughout the entire process.
Create Your Account
Fill in Personal & Academic Details
- Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your HSLC marksheet.
- Enter your date of birth, gender, and category (General / SC / ST / OBC).
- Enter your HSLC Roll Number, Year of Passing, and marks obtained in Mathematics and Science separately.
- Provide your complete residential address in Assam and your parent/guardian contact details.
- Double-check every field before saving — incorrect information may result in rejection of your application.
Upload Required Documents
Scan and upload the following documents in the format and size specified on the portal:
- Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) — issued by a competent authority of Assam.
- HSLC Marksheet — showing marks in all subjects, especially Mathematics and Science.
- Passport-sized Photograph — recent, clear, with a white background.
- Signature — scanned on plain white paper in black ink.
- Caste / Category Certificate (if applicable) — for SC / ST / OBC candidates.
- All files must be clear and readable. Blurred, incomplete, or incorrect documents will lead to rejection.
Fill Institute & Branch Preferences
- Select your preferred polytechnic institutes from the list of 26 Government Polytechnics in Assam.
- Arrange your choices in order of priority (1st preference, 2nd preference, and so on).
- Research each branch before selecting: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, etc.
- Fill as many choices as possible to increase your chances of getting a seat.
- Choices CANNOT be changed after final submission, so choose carefully.
Pay the Registration Fee
- Pay Rs. 300 online through the official DTE portal.
- Accepted payment methods: UPI (PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm), Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card.
- Save and print the payment confirmation receipt immediately after successful payment.
- This fee is NON-REFUNDABLE under all circumstances — even if you do not get a seat.
Download & Save Your Application Copy
- After final submission, the portal will generate your completed application form with an Application Number.
- Download and print this form. Store it safely — you will need it at counselling and document verification.
- Note down your Application Number and keep it accessible throughout the admission process.
Check Merit List & Attend Counselling
- Monitor the official DTE Assam portal regularly from July 2026 for merit list publication.
- If your name appears in the merit list, report for counselling during July–August 2026.
- Carry ALL original documents plus self-attested photocopies for verification at the counselling venue.
- Pay the institute admission fee (approx. Rs. 4,800 for General / Rs. 4,300 for TFW) at the time of seat confirmation.

- ✅ Seat allotment is strictly merit-based on average marks in Mathematics and Science in HSLC.
- ✅ Filling more institute and branch preferences gives you a higher chance of getting a seat.
- ✅ Bring ALL original documents to counselling — photocopies alone will not be accepted.
- ✅ For TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) seats, a separate declaration form may be required at the institute.
- ✅ Do not pay any agent or middleman — admission is fully online and fee is only Rs. 300.
