The B.Ed Common Entrance Test is a university-level entrance examination conducted by Dibrugarh University every year for admission to the two-year Bachelor of Education programme. Candidates who qualify this test and meet the eligibility requirements can then apply to their preferred B.Ed college affiliated with Dibrugarh University.

Clearing the entrance test alone does not guarantee a seat. Final admission depends on both your CET score and your academic career performance.

Before filling the application form, every candidate must carefully check whether they meet the eligibility conditions mentioned in the official notification.

Candidates must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology with specialisation in Science and Mathematics must have at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade point.

One important point that many candidates overlook: if you have scored 50% or above only in your Honours or Major subject but your overall aggregate is below 50%, you will not be considered eligible. The requirement is 50% in aggregate across all papers of the bachelor’s degree — not just in the major subject.

A relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks will be provided to the following candidates:

CategoryRelaxation
SC / ST / OBC / MOBC / PWD5% in qualifying marks
Candidates with minimum 5 years teaching experience in a school recognized up to Class 10 by ASSEB, Assam5% in qualifying marks

Note that a candidate can avail the benefit of relaxation under only one of the above categories, not both simultaneously.

The question paper will be set at a graduate level. Candidates should focus on building a strong foundation in all five subjects to score well in the limited time available.

The B.Ed CET 2026 will be conducted across the following centres in Assam:

The exact venue address for each centre will be announced later by the university. Candidates are advised to check the official website regularly for updates on test venues.

Getting a good score in the entrance test is just the first step. The final admission process works in two parts:

Part 1 — B.Ed CET Score: The entrance test carries 70 marks. Your performance in this test forms the larger portion of your total score.

Part 2 — Career Performance: This carries 30 marks and is calculated based on your academic track record, including marks scored in qualifying examinations.

After the CET result is declared, candidates must separately apply to their preferred B.Ed college affiliated with Dibrugarh University. The college will then prepare a merit list combining CET marks and career performance marks, and final admission will be offered based on that merit

The university has clearly stated that it will not verify the eligibility of candidates at the time of receiving applications or issuing admit cards. This means even ineligible candidates may receive an admit card and appear for the exam. However, if a candidate does not meet the minimum eligibility criteria, their candidature will not be considered at the time of actual B.Ed admission. Candidates are therefore fully responsible for checking their own eligibility before applying.

Since the exam covers five subjects and you have around five weeks from the application opening date to the exam date, planning your preparation systematically is important.

For General English, focus on grammar basics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and sentence correction. For General Knowledge, cover current affairs from the past six months, Assam-specific topics, national and international events, and basic science facts. For Reasoning, practise series, analogies, coding-decoding, direction sense, and logical sequences. For Numerical Ability, revise percentage, ratio, average, time and work, and basic arithmetic. For Teaching Aptitude, understand concepts related to classroom management, learning theories, teacher roles, and educational psychology.

Solving previous years’ question papers and taking mock tests will significantly help with speed and accuracy within the 90-minute exam window.

All updates including the application portal link, admit card, result, and exam venue details will be published exclusively on the official Dibrugarh University website.
