About Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya
Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya, popularly known as KAV, is a unique university located in a peaceful rural setting at Nasatra, Barpeta, Assam. What makes this university special is its foundation on spiritual values combined with modern education. The journey of this institution began long before the university itself was established. His Holiness Krishnaguru Prabhu set up a Sewashram at Nasatra in 1974 and from there the vision of value based education started taking shape.
Over the years the organisation grew step by step. A vernacular school was started in 1986 followed by a high school in 1987, both of which were later taken over by the Government of Assam. In 1992 Krishnaguru Mahavidyalaya was established as a college. A modern English medium school came up in 1994 and a College of Science and Technology was added in 2009. Finally in 2017 Krishnaguru Adhyatmik Visvavidyalaya was formally established through a bill passed in the Assam Legislative Assembly. Today KAV is recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and continues to grow as a centre of research and higher learning.
