Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, commonly known as NPCIL, is one of the most respected central public sector enterprises in India. It works under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, and is responsible for designing, building, operating, and maintaining nuclear power reactors across the country. NPCIL has now released an official recruitment notification for 255 vacancies of Category II Stipendiary Trainee and Technician posts at its Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project site located in Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu.

This is a great opportunity for young candidates who have completed their 10th or 12th standard with science subjects or hold an ITI certificate in a relevant trade. Women candidates are especially encouraged to apply as NPCIL actively works towards gender balance in its workforce. Applications will be accepted only through online mode starting from 08 June 2026 and the last date to apply is 29 June 2026.

For Plant Operator

Candidate must have passed HSC which is 10 plus 2 or ISC with Science Stream covering Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with minimum 50 percent marks in aggregate. English must have been studied as a subject at least at SSC that is 10th level.

For Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, and Welder

Candidate must have passed SSC that is 10th standard with minimum 50 percent marks in Science and Mathematics individually. Along with this, a 2 year ITI certificate in the relevant trade is required. For trades where the ITI course is less than 2 years, the candidate must have at least 1 year of relevant working experience after completing the course. English must have been studied as a subject at SSC level.

One year apprenticeship training after a 1 year ITI course will be counted as one year experience. However, internship period will not be counted as experience.

Note: Candidates who passed 10th in the year 2021 and were declared pass without marks due to Covid-19 pandemic will be exempt from the minimum percentage requirement in SSC.

Stipend and Salary After Training

Selected candidates will undergo a 2 year training period. During training they will receive a stipend and after successful completion they will be absorbed as Technician B.

Candidates who score less than 60 percent marks during the 2 year training period will not be absorbed into regular employment.

Bond Amount: Selected candidates must sign an indemnity bond of Rs 5,07,000 for a period of 5 years before joining the traineeship. If the bond is breached the candidate must repay the total stipend and book allowance received.

Stage 2 – Advanced Online Test

Only candidates who qualify Stage 1 will have their Stage 2 responses evaluated. Both tests are conducted on the same day without any break.

Final merit list is prepared based on Stage 2 Advanced Test marks only.

Tie Breaking Rule

If two candidates score equal marks, the following steps are followed in order to decide ranking:

Step 1 — Candidate with lower negative marks in Stage 2 ranks higher

Step 2 — Candidate with higher marks in Stage 1 ranks higher

Step 3 — Candidate with lower negative marks in Stage 1 ranks higher

Step 4 — Candidate with higher Mathematics marks in Stage 1 ranks higher

Step 5 — Candidate with higher Science marks in Stage 1 ranks higher

Stage 3 – Document Verification

Based on the Stage 2 merit list, candidates are shortlisted for document verification. The number of candidates called for document verification will not exceed 3 times the total number of vacancies for each post. Candidates clearing document verification are empanelled in order of merit.

Step 2 – Click on Apply then Online Registration link available at the top or left corner of the page. Enter all basic details like Name, Date of Birth, Category, Email ID in small letters only, and Mobile Number.

Step 3 – After registration an activation link will be sent to your registered email. Click on that link to activate your account.

Step 4 – Log in using your credentials and fill in all details in the following sequence:

  • Educational Qualification
  • Post Qualification Work Experience if any
  • Personal Details
  • Upload Photo and Signature
  • Submit Application

Step 5 – Review the full draft of your application before final submission. You can make changes at this point. Once submitted no changes will be allowed.

Step 6 – Pay the application fee of Rs 100 through online mode if you are not exempted. Wait for server confirmation after payment. Do not press back or refresh button.

Step 7 – After successful payment your application number will be generated. Log in again and verify the payment status.

Step 8 – Take a printout of the system generated application form. Do not send any documents to NPCIL in hard copy or soft copy.

All selected candidates will work in round the clock shift duties at the nuclear power project site.

Any form of canvassing or attempting to influence the selection will lead to immediate disqualification.

OBC candidates belonging to Creamy Layer are not eligible for OBC reservation benefits.
