Exam Pattern — Three Stages

Stage 1 — Preliminary Examination
This is an objective MCQ-based screening test. Each question carries four options. Note that Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit — they only decide who moves forward to the Mains.

Stage 2 — Main Examination
This is a descriptive written exam with multiple papers. It includes an Essay Paper (250 marks, 3 hours) and several General Studies papers (250 marks each). Candidates can write the Main Examination in the Assamese language, which is a huge advantage for students from Assamese-medium backgrounds.

Stage 3 — Interview / Viva Voce
This carries 180 marks and tests your personality and general awareness. Your final post is decided based on the combined score of Mains and Interview

Final Thoughts

The APSC CCE 2025 is genuinely one of the best government exam opportunities available in Assam right now. With 78 vacancies and multiple posts under one exam, your chances are better than most other state-level recruitments. If you hold a graduation degree and fall in the eligible age group, there is absolutely no reason to delay.

Start your preparation with previous years’ question papers to get familiar with the Prelims pattern. For the Mains, pay special attention to Assam-specific topics in General Studies as they carry significant weight. And if Assamese is your strong language, use that advantage in the written papers — it can genuinely improve your answer quality.
