Who Can Apply — Eligibility at a Glance

Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age — meaning born between April 2, 1996 and April 1, 2005.

General Cadre: Graduation in any discipline with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD where posts are reserved), or Post-Graduation with at least 55% marks.

DEPR Cadre: MA/MSc in Economics or Finance (where Economics or Finance is the core subject of the curriculum) with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD where applicable).

DSIM Cadre: Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, AI/ML, Econometrics, or related fields with at least 55% marks — OR a four-year Bachelor’s degree in these subjects with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD where applicable).

Payment is online only. Fees are non-refundable under all circumstances.

Step 1 — Phase I (Online Exam) Objective-type questions covering general awareness, English, reasoning, and quantitative aptitude (for General cadre). For DEPR/DSIM, subject-specific papers are held.

Step 2 — Phase II (Online/Written Exam) In-depth papers testing economic and social issues, finance, management, and subject knowledge. All papers must be attempted in a single sitting.

Step 3 — Interview Candidates shortlisted from Phase II are called for a personal interview. Final merit is based on combined Phase II and Interview scores.

  • Starting basic pay: ₹78,450 per month
  • Approximate gross monthly emoluments (without HRA): ₹1,54,936
  • House Rent Allowance: 15% of basic pay if bank accommodation is not provided
  • Additional allowances: Dearness Allowance, Special Allowance, Grade Allowance, Learning Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance

Other benefits include bank accommodation (subject to availability), concessional loans for housing, vehicle and education, reimbursed medical expenses, leave fare concession once every two years, and an interest-free festival advance.

Pension: Defined Contribution NPS (New Pension Scheme) applicable for all employees who joined on or after January 1, 2012.

After the deadline, candidates get a 2-day edit window to correct limited fields such as exam centre, medium of exam, parents’ names, and Class 10/12 percentage.

  • Apply through the official RBI website only — no other mode is accepted
  • Admit Cards will be available for download on the RBI website — they will not be sent by post
  • Mobile phones and all electronic devices are strictly banned inside examination halls
  • Candidates employed in government or public sector organisation must inform their employer in writing before applying
  • Physical calculators are not allowed in any phase of the exam
  • Keep your email ID and mobile number active throughout the process for official communications
