If you have been preparing for a Bihar government job, this is the notification you did not want to miss. BPSC has officially opened applications for its 72nd Combined Competitive Examination, and the last date is 31 May 2026. Here is everything you need to know.
What Is BPSC 72nd CCE?
Every few years, Bihar Public Service Commission releases its Combined Competitive Examination to fill gazetted officer posts across Bihar government departments — Revenue Officers, Block Panchayat Raj Officers, Deputy SPs, and many more. The 72nd edition carries 1,186 vacancies across 22+ post types.
Selection happens in three stages. A Preliminary exam acts as a screening filter. Candidates who clear it sit the Mains written exam. Top performers from Mains are called for a Personality Test (interview). Your final rank is based on Mains plus interview marks only — the Preliminary score does not count toward merit.
Total Vacancies — 1,186 Posts
You may have seen 1,230 mentioned somewhere — that was the original figure. The Commission withdrew 44 Cane Officer posts because those are now being filled under separate departmental rules. So 1,186 is the correct and current total. The Commission has also said vacancies may increase before the Prelim exam if more departments send requisitions.

Do not wait for the last couple of days. Internet slowdowns and payment failures near the deadline are very common, and the Commission will not take responsibility for that.
Eligibility
Education: A bachelor’s degree from any recognized university is enough for most posts. Final year students can apply provisionally.
Special posts need specific degrees:
- CDPO — graduation with Home Science, Psychology, Sociology, Labour & Social Welfare, or Social Work as a subject
- FAO — graduation in Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Sub-Divisional Protection Officer — graduation in Psychology or Law (women candidates only)

Application Fee
₹100 per examination for all candidates.
If you do not enter an Aadhaar number in your application, an additional ₹200 biometric fee applies. So without Aadhaar, you pay ₹300 for the 72nd CCE alone. Just use your Aadhaar number and avoid the extra charge.
Fee once paid is non-refundable.
