About AIIMS

All India Institute of Medical Sciences is a group of autonomous public medical universities in India established under an Act of Parliament. These institutions function under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and are among the most respected names in the country’s healthcare system.

AIIMS institutions are known for delivering high-quality patient care, conducting cutting-edge medical research, and producing skilled healthcare professionals. Over the decades, AIIMS has expanded significantly beyond New Delhi, with fully functional campuses now operating in states such as Assam, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Odisha, Telangana, Maharashtra, and many others.

Working with AIIMS means being part of a nationally recognised institution that offers job security, structured pay scales, access to professional development, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to public healthcare in India. For healthcare and administrative professionals, few employers carry the same level of credibility and career value.

Participating Institutions Under CRE-5

Vacancies have been notified from the following AIIMS campuses and central government institutes, among others:

AIIMS Awantipora, AIIMS Bathinda, AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Bibinagar, AIIMS Bilaspur, AIIMS Deoghar, AIIMS Gorakhpur, AIIMS Guwahati, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Kalyani, AIIMS Mangalagiri, AIIMS Madurai, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raebareli, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Rajkot, AIIMS Rewari, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Vijaypur, AIIMS CAPFIMS, ABV-IMAS & Dr. RML Hospital, Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI), ESIC, ICMR, Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital, Pasteur Institute of India, RHTC Najafgarh, RIPANS Aizawl, and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital.

Skills Required

Beyond formal qualifications, the kind of candidate who does well in AIIMS recruitment — and later on the job — typically brings the following to the role:

For Clinical and Technical Posts:

  • Sound knowledge of their domain subject, as the CBT includes 80 domain-specific questions
  • Ability to work in a structured hospital environment with defined protocols
  • Attention to detail, especially for roles involving patient care, equipment operation, or laboratory procedures

For Administrative and Clerical Posts:

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, as most administrative posts involve data handling, record maintenance, and office software
  • Accurate typing and documentation skills, especially for DEO, LDC, UDC, and stenography posts
  • Good written communication in English or Hindi depending on the post

For All Posts:

  • The ability to work within a large institutional framework
  • Willingness to be posted at any participating AIIMS campus across India
  • Discipline and adherence to government service conduct rules from day one

Selection Process

The selection for AIIMS CRE-5 involves the following clearly defined stages:

Stage 1 – Computer Based Test (CBT)
The examination will be held tentatively from 25th to 27th July 2026 across major cities in India. The key details of the exam are:

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Total Questions: 100 MCQs
  • Total Marks: 400 marks (4 marks per correct answer)
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted per wrong answer
  • Pattern: 20 questions on General Knowledge and Aptitude / Computer Awareness + 80 domain-specific questions
  • The paper is divided into 5 sections of 18 minutes each; candidates must attempt each section within the allotted time as it cannot be revisited

Qualifying Marks:

  • UR / EWS: 40%
  • OBC: 35%
  • SC / ST: 30%
  • PwBD (all categories): 30%

Stage 2 – Skill Test (if applicable)
Certain post groups such as stenographers, data entry operators, typists, and trade-specific technical posts will have an additional skill test after the CBT. This will be conducted at select locations, preferably in Delhi/NCR.

Stage 3 – Choice and Preference Exercise
Candidates who qualify the CBT will be invited to exercise choices for their preferred participating institutions. This is a critical step — candidates who do not fill in their choices during the window provided will not be considered for any institution.

Stage 4 – Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification at the respective AIIMS or participating institute. All original certificates including educational qualifications, category certificates, registration certificates, and experience documents must be produced at this stage.

Stage 5 – Final Appointment
Final appointment is made by the respective participating institute based on merit, category-wise availability of seats, and eligibility verification. AIIMS New Delhi acts only as the examination conducting body and has no role in final appointment decisions.

Guidance for Candidates

If you are a nursing graduate or a paramedical professional in Assam or Northeast India, AIIMS Guwahati is one of the participating institutions under CRE-5. This makes this recruitment particularly relevant for candidates in this region, as a central government post at AIIMS Guwahati offers both proximity to home and the prestige of a national-level institution.

For freshers appearing in this examination for the first time, here is what genuinely matters:

The CBT is the most important stage, and 80 out of 100 questions are from your specific domain. This means a candidate who has genuinely studied their subject at the graduation or diploma level has a real advantage. Do not underestimate the 20 general awareness and computer questions either — they are scoring questions that require relatively less preparation time compared to domain subjects.

When filling your application, do not choose a post group unless you are certain your qualification matches the eligibility criteria in Annexure-I. The examination is conducted without prior eligibility scrutiny, which means you can be disqualified even after the exam if your documents do not match at verification.

For candidates currently employed in a government role, ensure your NOC is obtained and uploaded well before the 8th July deadline. Missing this deadline means your application will not be processed, regardless of how well you perform in the exam.

Documents Required

Keep these documents ready before and during the application process:

  • Valid OTR registration credentials on aiimsexams.ac.in
  • Educational qualification certificates (Class 10 onwards)
  • Professional registration certificate (nursing council, pharmacy council, or relevant body as applicable)
  • Category certificate — OBC Non-Creamy Layer valid for FY 2026-27, SC/ST certificate, or EWS certificate issued between 1st April 2026 and 3rd July 2026 as applicable
  • No Objection Certificate from present employer (for government employees)
  • Experience certificate if applicable
  • Aadhaar card or any government-issued photo identity
  • Passport-size photograph and scanned signature and thumb impression as per upload specifications
