Section 1 – Who Should Apply

Platoon Commander is suitable for candidates who have good leadership and communication skills, are physically fit, and are comfortable working in a field-based government environment. This role involves managing a platoon of Home Guards, coordinating with district administration, and being present during law and order situations. Block Organizer is a better fit for candidates who want a block-level government posting with administrative duties. Section 2 – Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Both posts require a Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) from any recognised university. For non-departmental candidates, this is the minimum educational requirement.

Desirable Qualification (Adhimani Arhat): Preference will be given to candidates who have served in the Territorial Army for at least 2 years, OR hold an NCC ‘B’ certificate, OR have served continuously for a minimum of 3 years in the Home Guards organisation.

Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)

Age will be calculated as on 01 July 2026. Date of birth as mentioned on High School (Class 10) marksheet is the only accepted proof.

Candidates who do not complete the run within the specified time will be disqualified regardless of their written exam score.

Section 3 – Selection Process

The selection for UPSSSC Platoon Commander and Block Organizer 2026 will happen in two stages:

Stage 1: Written (Main) Examination

Shortlisting for the written exam will be based on UPSSSC PET 2025 normalised scores. Up to 15 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the written exam.

The main written exam will have:

• 100 questions, all objective multiple-choice (MCQ)
• Total marks: 100
• Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes)
• Negative marking: 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer

Exam Pattern:

Stage 2: Physical Standards Test + Physical Efficiency Test

Candidates shortlisted from the written exam will be called for physical measurement and the 4.8 km / 2.4 km running test. Both must be cleared. Physical tests are qualifying in nature — merit list is made based on written exam marks only.

There is no interview for these posts.

Applications must be submitted only through the official UPSSSC portal. No other mode of application will be accepted.

3. Login using your PET 2025 Registration Number and OTP received on registered mobile/email
4. Your personal details from PET 2025 will be pre-filled automatically

6. Fill in educational qualification details, category, and other required information
7. Verify your photo and signature (pre-uploaded from PET)
8. Choose your post preference order
9. Fill in the declaration and enter the verification code
10. Pay the application fee (₹25) through online mode
11. After successful payment, your application form will be auto-submitted
12. Download and print the application form for your records

Important: The application fee last date is also 06 July 2026. Fee correction (if required) must be reconciled by 13 July 2026.

Section 5 – How to Increase Your Chances of Selection

This is a competitive recruitment with 295 posts and a large number of PET-qualified candidates in UP. Here is what will actually make a difference:

For the Written Exam:

• The UP General Knowledge section carries 20 marks — this is the highest single-subject weightage. Focus heavily on UP history, current affairs, economy, geography, and schemes. Read a dedicated UP GK book along with daily UP-specific news.
• Data Interpretation (10 marks) is often ignored by candidates from Arts backgrounds. Practise simple graph-based and percentage-based questions. Even basic proficiency here can add 6–8 marks to your score.
• Computer and IT section (15 marks) is scoring because the syllabus is well-defined. Cover MS Word, MS Excel, internet basics, e-governance, AI/ML concepts (basics), and cybersecurity. This section is manageable within 10–15 days of focused study.
• Indian Polity and Indian Economy together carry 20 marks. Use NCERT Class 9–12 books as a foundation.
• Negative marking is 0.25 per wrong answer. Avoid guessing on questions you have no idea about — attempt only what you know.

For Physical Preparation:

• Start running and physical training now — do not wait for the shortlist. The 4.8 km run in 25 minutes (men) is a qualifying hurdle. Many candidates fail here despite good written scores.
• If your height or chest measurement is borderline, get yourself medically assessed before the official measurement day so you are not surprised.

For Document Preparation:

• Keep ready: PET 2025 scorecard, graduation certificate and marksheet, caste certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, income certificate for EWS (if applicable), Class 10 marksheet for age proof, and any NCC/Home Guards service certificate if claiming desirable qualification benefit.

Section 6 – Common Mistakes to Avoid While Applying

This section is based on the specific conditions in this notification. Read carefully before submitting your form.

1. Applying without PET 2025 qualification: Only candidates who appeared in PET 2025 and received a scorecard from UPSSSC are eligible to apply. If your PET score is zero or negative, you are not eligible.

2. Wrong post selection: Platoon Commander and Block Organizer are different posts with different pay levels. Check your eligibility for both and make your post preference clearly. Once submitted, the post selection cannot be changed.

3. Not reconciling the fee: If your payment shows as pending after 6 July 2026, your form will not be submitted. Use the “Update Transaction ID by Double Verification Mode” option on the UPSSSC portal to reconcile your payment before the deadline.

4. Not printing the application form: After final submission, download and take a printout. The notification specifically requires candidates to bring this form during document verification.

5. Category certificate date errors: SC/ST/OBC certificates must be issued by a competent authority. For EWS candidates, the income certificate must cover the period from 01 April 2026 to 06 July 2026 (financial year 2025–26) and be valid for FY 2026–27. An outdated EWS certificate will disqualify your application.

6. Applying from another state: Reservation benefits (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) are only applicable to UP domicile candidates. Candidates from other states will be treated as General/Unreserved.

7. Applying more than once: Only one application is permitted. If you submit multiple forms, only the last submitted form will be considered and all others will be rejected.

Q1. What is the salary of UPSSSC Platoon Commander?
The Platoon Commander post is placed at Pay Level-6 with a minimum salary of ₹35,400 and maximum of ₹1,12,400 per month. In addition to the basic pay, candidates will also receive DA, HRA, and other state government allowances. It is a permanent government position with regular annual increments.
