Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed a BA, BSc, BCom, MA, MSc, MCom, or an equivalent degree from a recognised university.

The entrance test is OMR-based and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer carries 4 marks, and 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. No marks are deducted for unattempted questions. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours (120 minutes).

The exam will be conducted across multiple locations in Assam. Based on the previous year’s pattern, the expected test centres for GUBEDCET 2026 include districts and towns such as Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tezpur, Nagaon, Barpeta, Dhubri, Goalpara, Nalbari, Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Mangaldai, Rangia, Pathsala, and Biswanath Chariali. Follow these steps carefully to complete your GUBEDCET 2026 application:

Step 1: Visit the Official Portal Go to the official Gauhati University admission portal. The direct application link will be active from 12 June 2026.

Step 2: Complete Registration New applicants must register first using a valid mobile number and email address. Keep these credentials safe as you will need them to log in later.

Step 3: Fill in the Application Form Log in with your registered credentials and fill in the application form with your personal, educational, and contact details. Double-check all entries against your original documents before proceeding.

Step 4: Upload Required Documents Scan your passport-size photo and signature as per the size and format given on the portal before uploading.

Step 5: Select Exam Centres Choose three preferred exam centres from the available list. The university will assign one centre based on availability.

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee Complete the payment of ₹2000/- (plus applicable bank charges) through online mode — debit card, credit card, internet banking, or UPI. Offline payment is not accepted.

Step 7: Submit and Save Acknowledgement After successful payment, submit the form and download the acknowledgement slip. Save and print it for future use during admit card download and counselling.

The GUBEDCET merit list is prepared solely based on marks scored in the entrance test. In case of a tie between two or more candidates, the ranking is decided in this order:

  1. The candidate with a higher ratio of positive marks to negative marks gets the better rank.
  2. If still tied, the candidate with fewer unanswered questions gets priority.
  3. If the tie remains, the older candidate is ranked higher.
