State Bank of India has released an official notification inviting online applications from retired officers of SBI for the post of Concurrent Auditor on a contractual basis. This is not a regular job opening for fresh candidates. This recruitment is specifically meant for those officers who have already retired from SBI service on superannuation. A total of 821 vacancies have been announced across 17 circles all over India. The application process started on 14 May 2026 and the last date to apply is 11 June 2026. All applications must be submitted online only.

This recruitment is only for retired officers of State Bank of India. Fresh candidates or candidates from other banks are not eligible.

Retirement Condition

The officer must have retired from SBI service only on attaining superannuation at the age of 60 years. Officers who took voluntary retirement, resigned, were suspended, or left the bank before completing superannuation are not eligible. However, officers who completed 58 years of age and 30 years of service and applied for voluntary retirement as per SBI circular dated 21 June 2022 will be considered eligible after attaining the age of 60 years.

Age Limit as on 14 May 2026

Maximum age should not be more than 63 years as on the date of advertisement that is 14 May 2026. This is because the contract is for a maximum of 3 years and the engagement cannot continue beyond 65 years of age.

No age relaxation is available for reserved category candidates for this particular recruitment.

Grade of Retirement

Only those officers who retired from the following grades on superannuation are eligible to apply:

The officer must have a good track record of performance throughout their service. Their integrity should not have been doubtful at any point during service. No punishment or penalty of Censure or higher level should have been given in the last five years before retirement. No case from CBI or any other law enforcement agency should be pending against the officer. The retired officer must be in good health and should not be suffering from any major illness. The officer should not be working with any other organization at the time of applying. If already working on any other contractual agreement with SBI, the officer must resign from that before joining as Concurrent Auditor.

Preferred experience is in the areas of credit, audit, and Forex transactions.

The selected retired officers will receive a fixed monthly lump sum compensation based on the grade from which they retired. This amount is paid without any perquisites and is in addition to their pension.

For Cluster Audit work covering two or more branches for weekly audit, verification of Currency Chest, Forex Transactions, or FSLOs, the remuneration will be Rs 2,000 per visit per branch.

There is no provision for house rent, furniture, PF, pension, gratuity, or any other perquisites during the contract period. Income tax will be deducted at source as per applicable rates.

Leave must be applied in writing or by email and approved before availing. Unused leave will lapse at the end of the contract period unless it was specifically declined by the bank on administrative grounds, in which case it may be encashed at the time of contract termination.

The selected Concurrent Auditors will be responsible for the following work at branch level:

Verifying all loan documents and checking compliance of all processes related to sanction and follow up as per bank guidelines. Verifying deposit accounts and ensuring all instructions related to deposit accounts are followed. Checking remittances, bill transactions, foreign exchange transactions, cash transactions, and all other daily banking activities. Supporting the Internal Audit Department in any other scope of audit as decided from time to time.

The engagement period is minimum 1 year and maximum 3 years or up to the age of 65 years whichever is earlier. The contract can be terminated by either side with 30 days notice. If the retired officer remains absent for more than 7 days without prior approval, the bank reserves the right to terminate the contract with immediate effect along with recovery of 30 days emoluments. The retired officer cannot take up any other assignment with any other organisation during the entire period of this contract. The selected officer will have to sign a stamped Service Level Agreement before joining duty. The officer will not exercise any administrative or financial powers during the engagement period.

Shortlisting

Applications will first be screened and shortlisted by a committee constituted by the bank. Simply meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee a call for interview. The bank will shortlist candidates based on their qualification and relevant experience. The decision of the bank regarding shortlisting is final.

Interview

The interview carries 100 marks. Qualifying marks will be decided by the bank. No TA or DA will be paid for appearing in the interview. The interview call letter will be sent by email only. No hard copy will be sent.

Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared in descending order of marks scored in the interview. If two candidates score equal marks at the cut off point, the older candidate will be ranked higher.

Important Instructions

Apply well before the last date. Do not wait until 11 June 2026 as heavy traffic on the website near the closing date may cause login failures. SBI will not be responsible for any such issues.

Only one application per candidate will be accepted for one circle. If multiple applications are submitted only the last valid completed application will be considered.

All communication including interview call letters will be sent by email only. Keep your email ID active throughout the process.

If selected, a stamped undertaking letter and Service Level Agreement must be submitted before joining. Failure to report within the stipulated time will result in cancellation of candidature.

Any false or incorrect information found at any stage will lead to immediate cancellation of candidature. If discovered after engagement, the contract will be terminated.

Any legal dispute arising from this recruitment will be under the jurisdiction of Mumbai courts only.
