A Little About SSC and CGL Exam

SSC CGL 2026 selection happens in two stages — Tier 1 and Tier 2. Both are Computer Based Tests.

Important points about Tier 1 — The exam will be available in both Hindi and English except for the English Comprehension section which will be in English only. A deduction of 0.50 marks will be applied for each incorrect answer in the examination. Tier 1 is qualifying in nature, and marks will be counted for final merit.

Tier 2 — Main Examination:

Tier 2 is more detailed and contains papers specific to the post you have applied for. It tests Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge. Candidates who qualify Tier 1 will be called for Tier 2.

Step 1: Go to the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in and complete your One Time Registration or OTR if you have not done it already. This is mandatory before you can apply for any SSC exam.

Step 2: After completing OTR log in to your account using your registration number and password. Go to the Apply section and click on SSC CGL 2026.

Step 3: Read the complete official notification carefully before filling the form. Check your eligibility for the specific post you want to apply for — age, educational qualification, and any special requirements.

Step 4: Fill in the online application form carefully with your personal details, educational qualification, and preferred exam centre. Select the posts you wish to be considered for from the available list.

Step 5: Upload your recent passport size photograph and signature in the correct format and size as specified in the notification.

Step 6: Candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 100 through the online payment options available on the portal. However, applicants belonging to SC, ST, PwBD categories and all female candidates are exempted from paying the fee.

Step 7: Review your complete application form carefully before final submission. Once submitted you cannot make major changes so double check everything.

Step 8: Submit the application and take a printout of the final submitted form and keep it safely for future reference including admit card and document verification.

Exam Centres

SSC CGL 2026 exam will be conducted across exam centres in all states and union territories of India. Candidates can select their preferred exam centre region while filling the application form. The centre allotment will be done based on availability and preference.
