Coal India Limited is a Schedule ‘A’ Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, with its corporate headquarters located in Kolkata. It is the single largest coal-producing company in the world and contributes approximately 75% of the total coal production in India. CIL employs around 2.12 lakh people, making it one of the largest corporate employers in the entire country.

The company operates through 37 subsidiary organisations and coalfield locations spread across India. CIL is now also expanding into the “Coal to Chemicals” vertical as part of its diversification strategy to generate greater value and improve long-term operational and financial performance.

Selection for all disciplines will be based entirely on the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). There will be no personal interview for final selection.

After successfully completing 1 year of training cum probation, candidates will be confirmed as Officers in E-1 Grade with full benefits.


All appointed candidates must serve Coal India Limited for a minimum period of 60 months from the date of joining. At the time of joining, candidates must execute a service bond of ₹3 Lakhs. An amount of ₹5,000 per month will be deducted from salary towards the bond amount, which will be refunded without interest after the successful completion of 60 months of service.


Selected candidates may be posted at any location across India in CIL subsidiary companies including coalfield areas. Candidates must be willing to serve anywhere in India. They will be asked to submit three location preferences in order of priority, but the final posting decision will rest entirely with CIL management.
