Coal India Limited (CIL), one of the most prestigious Maharatna Public Sector Undertakings under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has officially released Advertisement No. 03/2026 for the recruitment of Management Trainees across multiple engineering and professional disciplines. Overview of CIL Management Trainee Recruitment 2026
Coal India Limited is a Schedule ‘A’ Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, with its corporate headquarters located in Kolkata. It is the single largest coal-producing company in the world and contributes approximately 75% of the total coal production in India. CIL employs around 2.12 lakh people, making it one of the largest corporate employers in the entire country.
The company operates through 37 subsidiary organisations and coalfield locations spread across India. CIL is now also expanding into the “Coal to Chemicals” vertical as part of its diversification strategy to generate greater value and improve long-term operational and financial performance.

Important Note on Marks: The minimum qualifying marks for General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates is 60%. For SC, ST, and PwBD candidates, a 5% relaxation is provided making the minimum qualifying marks 55%. Rounding of percentage will not be allowed under any circumstances — even 59.99% will not be treated as 60%.

Selection for all disciplines will be based entirely on the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). There will be no personal interview for final selection.

After successfully completing 1 year of training cum probation, candidates will be confirmed as Officers in E-1 Grade with full benefits.
Service Agreement Bond
All appointed candidates must serve Coal India Limited for a minimum period of 60 months from the date of joining. At the time of joining, candidates must execute a service bond of ₹3 Lakhs. An amount of ₹5,000 per month will be deducted from salary towards the bond amount, which will be refunded without interest after the successful completion of 60 months of service.
Posting
Selected candidates may be posted at any location across India in CIL subsidiary companies including coalfield areas. Candidates must be willing to serve anywhere in India. They will be asked to submit three location preferences in order of priority, but the final posting decision will rest entirely with CIL management.

Important Instructions
Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for this recruitment.
All qualifications must be from full-time regular courses from universities or institutes recognised by the appropriate statutory authority in India. Distance learning, correspondence, or online courses will not be accepted for technical disciplines.
No modifications will be allowed after final submission of the online application. Candidates must ensure that all details entered are correct before submitting.
Candidates must maintain an active email ID and mobile number for at least one year. All future communications will be sent only to the registered email ID.
No TA or DA will be paid to any candidate for appearing in the CBT.
CIL will never demand or charge any fee other than the official application fee. Candidates are warned to beware of fraudsters who may claim to offer employment in CIL for money.
Any candidate found guilty of providing false information, submitting fabricated documents, or using unfair means during the selection process will be disqualified, prosecuted, and permanently debarred from all future CIL recruitments.
