Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a three year Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised University or Institute with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA.
One very important point to note here — candidates who hold higher qualifications such as B.E. or B.Tech are not eligible to apply for this post. Only diploma holders with the right experience can apply.
Work Experience Required
A minimum of 2 years of relevant field experience is mandatory for all candidates. The experience requirement is different for each discipline and is explained below:

Age Limit
The maximum age limit for candidates is 28 years as on the last date of receipt of application which is 08 June 2026. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates will be as per Government of India rules.

Applications are open only to candidates who are citizens of India.

Important Points to Know Before Applying
Candidates who had previously applied in response to the earlier Advertisement No. IITG/R/01/2026 dated 22 January 2026 are required to resubmit their application with the required experience details wherever applicable. Their previous application will not be considered automatically.
Candidates currently working in any Government department or Public Sector Undertaking must submit a No Objection Certificate from their present employer at the time of certificate verification. If they are unable to produce the NOC at that time, they must submit an undertaking stating that they have informed their employer.
Candidates must clearly understand that this is a temporary contractual appointment and they will have no claim whatsoever for regular employment at IIT Guwahati on the basis of this appointment.
How to Apply – Step by Step Process
Step 1: Before applying go through the complete official notification carefully. Make sure you meet the educational qualification, work experience, age limit, and discipline requirements for the post you wish to apply for.
Step 2: Open your web browser and visit the official IIT Guwahati IPM Trainee application portal to complete the online application process:

Step 3: If you are a new user click on Sign Up and create your account using a valid email address and password. If you already have an account from the previous advertisement use the same credentials to log in.
Step 4: After logging in start filling in the online application form carefully. Fill in all the sections including your personal details, educational qualification details, and work experience details. Make sure your experience details are clearly mentioned as this is a mandatory requirement.
Step 5: Upload your recent passport size photograph and all required documents in the correct format. The maximum allowed file size for a PDF document is 1 MB so make sure your files are within the limit.
Step 6: Double check all the information you have entered before submitting. Incomplete applications will be rejected without any consideration.
Step 7: Submit your completed application form before 08 June 2026 by 05:00 PM. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered under any circumstances.
Step 8: After submission take a printout of the submitted application for your future reference.
