Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary as per the following structure:

In addition to the basic pay and grade pay, the appointed candidates will also receive other allowances as applicable under Assam Government rules.

Nationality and Domicile The applicant must be an Indian citizen as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India and must be a permanent resident of Assam. As proof of residence, candidates are required to upload either a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purposes or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate.

Educational Qualification The minimum educational qualification required for this post is a Graduate degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government. Candidates need to upload all semester or year-wise mark sheets along with the final pass certificate.

Age proof will be verified only through the Class X or Class XII Board Examination Admit Card, Pass Certificate, or Marksheet. No other document will be accepted for age verification.

The selection for this post involves multiple stages:

Stage 1 — Written Examination

The written exam consists of two papers, each carrying 200 marks:

Paper I — General Ability and Intelligence Test (200 Marks) This paper will be objective (MCQ) type conducted in English. Topics covered include General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events of National and International Importance, Indian Polity and Economy, History of India, and Indian and World Geography.

Paper II — General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (200 Marks) This paper has two parts:

  • Part A — Essay (80 Marks): Candidates can write the essay in either English or Assamese. Topics include modern Indian history, geography, polity, economy, security, and human rights issues.
  • Part B — Comprehension and Language Skills (120 Marks): This section must be attempted in English only and covers comprehension passages, précis writing, counter-argument development, and grammar.

Note: Paper I will be evaluated first. Paper II will only be checked for those who clear the minimum qualifying marks in Paper I.

Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for PET. The physical standards and test criteria are as follows:

Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per standard medical guidelines.

Stage 3 — Medical Standards Test Candidates who pass the PET will undergo a medical examination covering eyesight, hearing, general health, and overall physical fitness. Vision should be at least 6/6 and 6/9 in the two eyes without glasses.

Stage 4 — Interview / Personality Test (50 Marks) Candidates who clear the medical test will be called for a personality interview conducted by the APSC. The interview carries 50 marks.

Final Merit List The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined marks of the written examination and the interview.

Candidates must apply online only through the official APSC recruitment portal at apscrecruitment.in. No other mode of application will be accepted.

For new users, complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process first by clicking on “Register Here” on the official website. After registering, log in with your credentials, fill in the application form carefully, upload all required documents in PDF format (maximum file size 4 MB), and pay the applicable fee online.

Documents must be scanned at 200 dpi in greyscale. Photograph size should be between 50 KB and 200 KB and should not be older than 3 months. Signature file size should also be within the 50 KB to 200 KB limit.

At the time of the interview, candidates must bring original copies along with self-attested photocopies of the following documents:

  • Class X or Class XII Admit Card, Pass Certificate, or Marksheet (for age proof)
  • All mark sheets and certificates from HSLC onwards
  • Graduation degree and all semester mark sheets
  • Caste certificate issued by the competent authority in Assam (if applicable)
  • BPL certificate (wherever applicable)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from employer, if already in government service
  • Ex-Servicemen Identity Card and Discharge Book (if applicable)
  • Declaration Form-A (Small Family Norms) — available on the official APSC website
  • Valid photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, or Driving Licence)

The written examination may be conducted zone-wise. The six zones and their respective districts are:
