The Recruitment and Assessment Board (RAB) is the centralised body of CSIR responsible for managing the recruitment, assessment, and promotion of Scientists in Group IV positions across all CSIR laboratories in the country. It also handles the recruitment of senior technical positions nationwide.

The Chairperson of CSIR-RAB holds overall responsibility for conducting these processes in a fair, transparent, and efficient manner strictly in accordance with the CSIR Recruitment and Assessment Promotion (CSRAP) Rules and other applicable guidelines issued from time to time.

The Chairperson, CSIR-RAB will be expected to carry out the following key responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic leadership to the entire assessment and recruitment process for scientists as well as senior technical positions across CSIR laboratories
  • Implementing the CSIR Scientist Recruitment and Assessment Promotion (CSRAP) Rules effectively and consistently
  • Formulating and periodically reviewing recruitment policies, assessment protocols, and competency frameworks to keep them current and relevant
  • Ensuring complete transparency, efficiency, and objectivity in identifying and selecting scientific talent for CSIR
  • Coordinating with distinguished external experts and domain specialists for forming selection and assessment committees

The appointment will be made on a full-time contract basis. The tenure details are as follows:
