The cut-off date for determining age will be the last date of online application submission.

Selected candidates appointed as Multi Tasking Staff will be required to carry out the following duties:

  • Physical maintenance and upkeep of records in their section
  • General cleanliness and maintenance of the section
  • Carrying files and documents to other sections
  • Photocopying and delivering dak (official mail)
  • Opening and closing the section or room as required
  • Dusting of furniture and keeping the workspace tidy
  • Preparation and supply of tea and coffee to officials and guests
  • Any other work assigned by superior officers from time to time

The selection will be based on an OMR-based or Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination. The exam will be bilingual — questions will be set in both English and Hindi except for the English Language section.

The final merit list will be prepared entirely based on performance in the written examination. In case of a tie in scores, the tie will be resolved in the following order of preference — candidate with fewer negative marks placed higher, then older candidate by date of birth, then candidate who acquired essential qualification earlier, and finally alphabetical order of first names.

  4. Candidates currently working in government departments on a regular or permanent basis must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer along with the online application. CSIR-IICB will not accept candidates on lien or deputation basis.
  5. No modifications will be allowed after final submission of the online application. All details entered including name, category, date of birth, address, mobile number, and exam centre will be treated as final.
  6. Mobile phones, calculators, or any electronic devices are strictly prohibited at the examination venue.
  7. Candidates must carry their admit card along with a valid original photo ID proof to the examination hall. Ration cards and learner’s driving licences are not valid identity proofs.
  8. All updates, corrigendum, and notifications related to this recruitment will be posted only on the official CSIR-IICB website at iicb.res.in. Candidates are advised to visit the website regularly.
  9. Canvassing in any form or bringing political or other influence will be treated as a disqualification.
  10. Any candidate found using unfair means, impersonating another person, or carrying electronic devices at the exam will face disqualification and may be debarred from future CSIR recruitment processes permanently.

Visually impaired candidates or candidates whose writing speed is affected due to permanent disability may use their own scribe at their own cost. The scribe must be from a qualification one step below that of the candidate. Candidates using a scribe are eligible for compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour of examination. Candidates must indicate their requirement for a scribe in the online application form itself. Any request made later may not be accepted.
